The therapeutic benefits of drinking Green Tea
Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) has been a long-standing favourite beverage for thousands of years and has been studied for its most abundant components – polyphenol antioxidants called catechins which increase the body’s own antioxidant capacity and reduce oxidative stress.
Its these constituents which are chiefly responsible for the chemoprotective, antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Human studies have also found green tea has antihypertensive and cardioprotective benefits, and may also aid in weight loss. As it does contain a small amount of caffeine, it makes a lovely alternative to coffee or your pre-workout with all the added benefit of those medicinal qualities whether your drinking it as a dried leaf or matcha latte (P.S We have both)…
Some of the main actions of green tea leaves include antioxidant, astringent, antibacterial, antiviral, lowers cholesterol, anticarcinogenic, and improves brain function.
Did you also know that water temperature is important for green tea?
Too hot and the loveliness will soon turn to bitterness.
When you brew ensure the water temp reaches 79°C before pouring over the leave so they don’t burn.
Experiment with steeping time but we recommend a range between 2-4 minutes for that flavour and strength sweet spot
